Modernizing Cotterman Ladders’ Press Operation with a Quieter, Faster Stamtec Solution

Project overview

Visionary Manufacturing Solutions supported Cotterman Ladders with a new Stamtec press to modernize their ladder manufacturing operation. Cotterman produces large-scale welded push ladders commonly used in industrial and commercial environments, and their existing equipment was becoming outdated, noisy, and increasingly difficult to maintain.

Customer Challenge

Cotterman had been running a series of older Roselle gap frame stamping presses that were starting to break down and required more maintenance. The older presses ran slower than the new Stamtec press, used dry clutch and brake systems, and created a loud, clunky work environment for operators.

VMS Solution

Visionary provided a new Stamtec press equipped with a Link control system and a newly designed wet clutch and brake system. The upgraded press allowed Cotterman to replace two older presses with one modern machine while improving reliability, operator experience, and overall production efficiency.

Operator Experience

One of the most noticeable improvements was the reduction in noise on the plant floor. The new Stamtec press was significantly quieter than the older Roselle presses, and operators responded positively almost immediately. They also appreciated the simple layout of the Link controls, which allowed them to save job recipes and quickly recall setups for repeat production.
